Trekking in Gangotri Badrinath Uttarakhand

Gangotri is the one of the most sacred places of india. it is situated on the banks of the river bhagirathi and is named after the gangotri glacier from where Bhagirathi Bhagirathi, The Bhagirathi is a turbulent Himalayan river in the Indian states of Uttarakhand, and one of the two headstreams of the Ganges, the major river of Northern India and the holy river of Hinduism. In Hindu mythology and culture, the Bhagirathi is considered the source stream of the Ganges. However, in hydrology, the other headstream, Alaknanda, is considered the source stream on account of its great length and discharge. Says Wikipedia , one of the confluents of river ganges originates. badrinath is yet another pilgrimage place of hindus in this region. it is one of the the "char dhams" of hindus. gangotri badrinath trek is one of the strenuous treks of garhwal region. it connects these two holy shrines gangotri and badrinath traversing via kalindi at the elevation of 6000m. it is rated as moderate to tough on gradient level. it is undertaken on the altitude of 4956 meters making it very rigorous.

The knowledge of mountaineering is a pre-requisite and a must for gangotri badrinath trek. also only physically fit people are advised to undertake this trek. the trek should be strictly avoided by the people having blood pressure problems or cardio problems because of the high altitude. the persons having a prior experience of trekking[1] take up this trek and they too find it very challenging because of its track. the best season for this trek is from mid june to july august. one can only go for this trek in summers for otherwise the route remains jammed due to snowfall[2].

The trek starts off from Gangotri

Gangotri, Gangotri is a town and a Nagar Panchayat (municipality) in Uttarkashi district in the state of Uttarakhand, India. It is a Hindu pilgrim town on the banks of the river Bhagirathi and origin of River Ganges. It is on the Greater Himalayan Range, at a height of 3,100m. Says Wikipedia to reach its first place bhojwasa. the route throughout is surrounded by trees and alpine pastures and the trekkers witness the beautiful surroundings of the traversing path. then the trekkers traverse ahead to reach gaumukh one of the sacred places of hindus. the track is comparatively plane and thus it is crossed leisurely by the trekkers. from gaumukh they traverse ahead to reach a place known as tapovan. it is a very calm place and it is famous for the spiritual peace it inculcates within the beholder. from tapovan trekkers traverse through the beautiful meadows to reach nandanvan. from nandanvan again the trekkers set themselves to reach to vasuki tal, then to khara pathar, then to sweta glacier and finally to the kalindi base which is the highest altitude of the trek.

It is located at an elevation of 6000 meters and it gives an exceptionally beautiful view of the snow capped mountains and trees in its surroundings. after enjoying the sights and the spectacular views and alluring aura the trekkers set themselves to traverse through the snow to reach raja parav and then to arwa tal. from arwa tal trekkers traverse through the steeps to reach ghastoli. and from ghastoli they trace their final routes to reach out to their final destination- badrinath. badrinath is situated on the banks of the river alaknanda and is one of the char dhams of hindus. it is the one of the most sacred places of hindu mythologies and almost everyone having inclinations towards religion tends to at least wish to visit this place.

There are many tours and travels organizations that organizes these trek. it is organized for a group of people. this is one of the longest treks and hence takes nearly 10-15 days to complete the route. but the journey is worth everything. the beauty, the tranquility one sets to witness is notable.
