Roopkund is located in chamoli district of indian state uttrakhand and is renowned as mystery lake. it is stationed at an elevation of approximately 5029 meters. this place is unoccupied and is famous only as a trekking destination because of the snow clad mountains and rock-strewn glaciers. this place is ranked moderate level in the gradient. it is one of the ideal trekking routes. the curves, steeps and planes make this trek not only adventurous but also quintessential. the stretched out greenery of the twin meadows of ali and Bedni Bugyal Bedni Bugyal, Bedini Bugyal is a Himalayan Alpine meadow, situated at an elevation of 3,354 metres (11,004 ft) in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand state of India. Bedini Bugyal falls on the way to Roopkund near Wan village. Trisul and Nanda Ghunti are clearly visible from here. This lush green meadow is adorned with blooms in a wide range of varieties. There is a small lake named Vaitarani (Bedini Kund), situated amidst the meadow. The rich flora of the area includes 'Brahm Kamal' or Sauseurea Obyallata. Though being the high altitude trek, it is ideal for beginners because of its moderate route. but trekkers should be physically very fit to undertake this trek as it's quite rigorous and tiresome in its nature. the best season for this trek is may-june which is before the monsoon and the other time span is august-september which is after the monsoon. during monsoon the trek is generally avoided because of the snow fall[2] . during monsoons the routes are jammed making trekking impossible for this period. also in winters the snow becomes too thick to travel. hence Roopkund Trek is available only for these months. if one set to Roopkund Trek in may-june he would get to admire the alluring green beauty of the twin meadows of ali and bedni bugyal but the snow will be very less during this span. for the next time span one gets to enjoy the thrilling and chilling experience of traversing through the snow, the beauty of the meadows are to an extent lessened.
There are different routes that are available for this trek. the most famous one is via lohajung. the trekkers reach to this place also known as wan by road and then climb up a hill rock to reach their next place called as ran ki dhar. the spectacular view of bedni bugyal and trisul can be seen from here if the trekkers are lucky to get a clear sky. Then from this place trekkers travel a distance of 12-13km to reach their next destination that is one of the twin meadows, bedni bugyal. then trekkers travel 11-12km to reach Bhagwabasa
Bhagwabasa, Bhagwabasa is situated in the heaven in fact. Above is the white Himalayan Peaks and below is the vast valley filled with white clouds. In between, there exist the camping ground. Above the white clouds and so close to the snow peaks, there could not be any camping experience as rewarding as at Bhagwabasa.
. and from there the trekkers reach to their final destination i.e, roopkund. the view from an elevation of 4800 meters is alluring and exceptionally beautiful. the dense oak forests[3] in the surrounding make it all the more beautiful and stunning. the nature surely seems to be angelic in itself.
